We are seeking to recruit an Outreach Support Assistant who demonstrates a confident, committed and genuine interest in supporting the development needs of disadvantage groups in the local community. This role requires the utilisation of skills, knowledge and experience that effectively engages with service users including those who require training, coaching and mentoring. The post holder will also actively promote/advertise the project and communicate effectively with a range of people internal and external.  You will also liaise and support the administration, monitoring and planning of all project activities in conjunction with the Training & Development Co-ordinator, Project Manager, Outreach Support Worker, Local Employers, External Partners and Volunteers to ensure the project outcomes are successful.

The post-holder has an integral role with the BBO BRIDGES Programme which is designed to meet the criteria of the European Social Fund’s (ESF) Investment Priority.  GSCC are working in partnership to ensure active inclusion which aims to tackle the root cause of poverty and barriers that prevent disadvantaged groups entering the labour market.

  • Experience of marketing/advertising, preferably marketing community initiatives/projects using various approaches
  • Experience of implementing communications strategies and initiatives from developing print media and promotional events to IT / digital interaction
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, responding effectively in writing, face to face and by telephone.
  • Confident and able to work using own initiative
  • A minimum of 1 year experience in an Outreach related profession or equivalent
  • GCSE grade C or above in Maths and English
  • IAG qualification highly desirable or willingness to work towards this qualification within 6 months of appointment
  • Coaching / Mentoring qualification desirable
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere / compliant with the Data Protection Act 1998
  • Must be computer literate with excellent knowledge of MS Office; Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Car owner/driver (essential)
  • Consent to an enhanced DBS check
