We are pleased to announce that Steps To Work will be acting as an intermediary for local employers for the DWP Kickstart Scheme.
The Kickstart Scheme is a £2 billion fund to create hundreds of thousands of high quality 6 month work placements for young people aged 16 to 24. Funding will cover the National Minimum Wage for 25 hours per week, plus associated employer National Insurance contributions and minimum automatic enrolment contributions.
As an intermediary, Steps To Work will:
- Work with local employers to finalise and submit their job placement specification. Opportunity details will be shared with local Job Centres to match young people with available opportunities.
- Manage all grant payments, with wage reimbursements paid at 2 month, 4 month and 6 month intervals (up to 25 hours at National Minimum Wage with associated employer NI contributions).
- Work closely with local employers to enable them to maximise on the potential of their work placement, providing advice and guidance on managing your new worker.
- Support young people to move into sustained employment after they have completed their Kickstart funded placement – delivering the support, skills and training to lead them into meaningful long-term employment.
Steps To Work will apply the additional DWP £1,500 funding to support young people during their placement and their transition into sustained employment after they have completed their Kickstart Scheme funded job. We will deliver a high quality 6 month wrap around employment support programme to each young person during their placement including skills assessment, CV writing, interview preparation, teamwork, organisation, communication and employability skills.
Please complete the form below to register your interest in the Scheme. We will then respond, asking you to fill out a Kickstart job placement application form that will be used to source suitable candidates for your business’ needs.
Note that a minimum of 30 placements will be required to submit a grant application. We will keep you posted on progress, with placements anticipated from November 2020 onwards.
