The BRIDGES Project Steps to Work are the lead organisation on the BRIDGES project, which covers the Black Country area offering support for people to overcome their barriers no matter and move closer to the job market. Steps to Work has received over £10.5 million from the Big Lottery Community Fund and the European Social Fund to run the project for three years, alongside partner organisations across the Black Country. EVOLVE Steps to Work are the lead organisation on the Evolve project, which offers the same support to participants in East Staffordshire. It covers Cannock, East Staffordshire, Lichfield and Tamworth. The project has received over £3 million from the Big Lottery Community Fund and the European Social Fund to run the project for three years alongside partner organisations across East Staffordshire. Home BRIDGES Evolve Blog Case Studies Our Funders Sign Up Our Delivery Partners BBO Overcoming Barriers to Gain Employment Cynthia started on the Bridges Project in February 2017 and required support via Just Straight Talk to access employment.Cynthia didn’t have a lot of confidence due to past issues and didn’t know where to start with creating a CV, looking for paid work and improving her interview techniques.Firstly, together with her Bridges project officer Cynthia created a CV and cover letter and uploaded this onto her Indeed account to make job searching a lot easier.Support was in place to help Cynthia look at variety of options to help her move forward and increase her chances of accessing paid employment. Cynthia received support to look at Adult Community Learning for a range of courses to engage in, look at different agency work and sign up with some agencies within the care sector and increase her knowledge on different job searching websites.On 3.07.2017 Cynthia started work within the care sector working for 247 Healthcare Professional. Cynthia has expressed she feels much happier within herself and feels she has more confidence since being offered paid employment. “Thank you for your support it has helped me access paid work”
