“Since joining the project I have met many new friends”

Paul joined the BBO Bridges project in September 2017 having attended an Age Matters presentation at the Job Centre. Although Paul has not worked since 2015 he has a varied background in Administration and would like to return to this field.

Paul met with Age Matters to identify the barriers he faced returning to work and discovered his confidence was not quite what it used to be and mentioned he often shows signs of depression. Paul lives alone and is often socially isolated.

Paul job searches on a regular basis but felt the support of Age Matters would not only get him out of the house, but would motivate him to regularly job search and gain new skills.

Age Matters offered Paul the chance to attend their Personal Development Programme which Paul agreed to straight away, he not only gained new skills but met new people also on the project.

Paul continued to meet up with his new friends by attending other social activities, including our Christmas lunch which he thoroughly enjoyed.

Paul has attended a number of interviews since working with Age Matters and continues to pursue a part time Administration job. Paul has built the confidence to start a voluntary placement at Pelsall library. Paul attends two days a week and enjoys helping members of the public.
