“The training has given our employees more job satisfaction and confidence because they know they have received the relevant training to be able to do the job. The employees who are taking part in Train to Gain are getting a lot out of it, both personally and career wise.” added Mr Choudary.

Providing advice, information and training for the last 14 years, the staff at Walsall Bangladeshi Centre in Pleck, have just completed NVQ level 2 in Advice and Guidance through funding from Train to Gain. The centre has been awarded several different accolades including Volunteer of the Year, through the Home Office.

The staff at the centre provide a voluntary service to the local community, offering advice, guidance and signposting, on subjects such as welfare rights, benefits, housing and training classes in areas such as IT and English.

Steps to Work Project Officer, Tahmeena, made a call to the centre to inform them of the funding that was available. Tahmeena commented, “I knew that the staff at Walsall Bangladeshi centre wanted to take their level 2 qualification and approached the founder of the organisation Mr Choudary, who I new wanted to train for this qualification.”

3 staff at the centre completed NVQ level 2 in Advice and Guidance and Mr Choudary completed his level 3. Mr Choudary commented, “It has been important to us to get staff fully trained. We deal with a lot of clients whose English is very poor and it is important that we communicate the right information in a professional way.”
