Work Programme update 01.04.2011

Posted on 04 April 2011.

On the 1st April, the collision Goverment unvieled the private and voluntary sector organisations that will deliver its flagship work programme from June 2011.

Steps to Work will be subcontractors for FourstaR, prime contractors for the West Midlands, Birmingham and Black Country, appointed by Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to deliver the Welfare to Work programme, Flexible New Deal (FND)

About FourstaR Employment and Skills and the new Work Programme;

  • 33% of the Market share in West Midlands, Black Country and Birmingham to deliver the work programme

As a sub contractor, Steps to Work will have the freedom to design tailored support for individual clients and extra money will be paid to those who get the "hardest to help" people off benefits and into work.

  • In total, 16 private and two voluntary sector organisations have been appointed as "prime contractors" for the Work Programme, including A4E, Serco and G4S. These 18 organisations will then subcontract welfare-to-work activities to the 289 voluntary sector groups.

The Work Programme will begin in June when the first customers are referred from Jobcentre Plus and will replace the current FND system.
