Knowing my City: A photography exhibition by young learners from Wolverhampton

Posted on 20 October 2010.

Learners from training provider Steps to Work in Wolverhampton have been involved in a programme of photography, which has resulted in the best of their work being displayed at the Mander Centre, Wolverhampton.

The young photographers are learners from, training charity Steps to Work with offices in Wolverhampton and Walsall. They have been working with professional freelance photographer and Lecturer, Nelson Douglas.

It has taken 6 weeks to produce the learner’s self-portraits and images from across the cit of Wolverhampton. Before the project commenced, most of the young people had hardly ever used a camera. Why not see how many of the locations you can recognise from across Wolverhampton City Centre?

The free exhibition will be ready for viewing from the 17th-19th November.  Press day will be on 18th November from 12noon – 3pm, where you will have the chance to meet and interview the teenage artists, photographer Nelson Douglas and speak to the tutors and support assistants from Steps to Work.

The exhibition is open to the general public on:

  • Wednesday 17th November 10.00am- 16.00pm
  • Thursday 18th November 10.00am-16.00pm
