James is top of the class!
27 year old James had been looking for work for 6 months before a placement was secured working with the Darlaston Extended Schools Coordinator.

Donna the Extended Schools Coordinator for Darlaston was looking for a placement to shadow and help her in the day to day running of the children’s activities over the summer period, such as ensuring that facilities and materials where available for the children’s summer play scheme as well as helping with general administration duties.
Having previous work experience in a school, Placement Officer Nicky Matthews knew that James would be the ideal candidate to shadow the Coordinator in her activities.
James commented, “I have really enjoyed the placement and I will be continuing to volunteer over the next few months. I have been getting involved in all sorts of activities such as painting and craft work with the children”
On placement James has been supervising children aged 5-13 and has been helping coordinate the recreational and public side of working in a school.
Donna said, “Bids are now going into secure a position as Facilities Coordinator to help me continue the Extended schools activities, this enables me to work alongside other schools and bring new ones into our cluster. James has been a valuable member of the team.”

James says:
