Company wins second Gold for equality
Posted on 01 November 2008.
Black Country training and employment organisation Steps to Work (Walsall) Limited has celebrated winning a prestigious ‘Gold’ rating for its commitment to equality for the second year in a row.
Steps to Work was awarded the Gold standard by Committed2Equality (c2e) for achieving an average score of 93.5% in its assessment and was recognised for having a business culture where equality and diversity are central to the company’s ethos.
Committed2Equality is the national Diversity Assured accreditation body which aids, confirms and recognises commitment to equality and diversity in the workplace. Since its launch in 2004, the c2e standard has become widely recognised as a respected mark of equality among organisations large and small.
Zosia Bernard, Senior Equality Advisor for c2e said: “The c2e Diversity Assured accreditation concentrates on the culture of equality and diversity within an organisation and not just administrative compliance alone, and Steps to Work has continued to demonstrate its commitment to inclusiveness for both clients and staff alike. Its positive attitude to treating everybody equally well deserves the highest award from c2e.”
The successful re-accreditation for Steps to Work follows a period of further growth over the past 12 months which has seen the organisation expand its operations and staffing to over 120 working from five sites across Walsall and Wolverhampton.
Chief Executive John Brewer said: “We’re delighted to have been reaccredited as a ‘Committed to Equality’ organisation and to do so by improving on our original rating. As a company whose core business is helping long-term unemployed people get back into work, we are absolutely committed to equality and diversity and this extends to how we work with suppliers too.”
The organisation with be reassessed in October 2009.
