Commitment to Diversity
Steps to Work are working towards Stage 3 of Leaders in Diversity. We believe that the Investors in Diversity (IiD) standard is a framework to challenge us beyond the existing accreditations we currently hold for equality and diversity such as C2e.
We are the first organisation to move straight towards a Stage 2 Initial Assessment without the full support of an advisor, holding an action plan based on our existing good practice that has been developed over the last 10 years of operation and good practice.
Steps to Work, work with an internal focus group which consists of staff that feed back on their team agendas as well as looking at the strategic importance of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI). We are proud to offer our staff, encourage and support them in obtaining other training and skills such as NVQs and Advice and Guidance qualifications that include equality modules. In addition, we provide our staff with training in drug and alcohol awareness and conflict training, enabling our staff to support customers and go that extra mile.
“The Investors in Diversity standard will allow us to move forward and be more proactive in our approach to diversity across the organisation as well as allowing us to go that extra mile in working with our customers” added John Brewer, CEO.
During the process of being assessed for the suitability of the award, Bruce Waller, Inspector on behalf of The National Centre for Diversity interviewed approximately 20 staff who supplied evidence on working with a diverse range of customers and showed commitment to equality and diversity without the company.
