Apprenticeships allow you to earn while you learn and gain qualifications as you work. As employees, apprentices earn a wage and work alongside experienced staff to gain job-specific skills. Off the job, usually on a day-release basis, apprentices receive training to work towards nationally recognised qualifications.

An apprenticeship from Steps to Work, is totally free to you and your employer. Acceptance onto the programme at Steps to Work will be based on interview, initial assessment results and GCSE grades at C and above are not compulsory. Employment within the sector you wish to undertake the apprenticeship is necessary before you start on the Apprenticeship programme. This can be within any sector, such as customer services, office, restaurant, travel & leisure and retail.

What is the Apprenticeship Programme?

Steps to Work Apprenticeships are available to young people aged 16 to 24 and include training for vocational qualifications, key skills awards and technical certificates. Steps to Work offer Foundation Apprenticeships (Level 2). Key Skills are highly rated by employers and usually include communication, application of numbers and information skills. Depending on the industry, they can also include qualifications in First Aid or Health and Safety.
