A Step in the right Direction, just the job for Walsall Hospice!

The Walsall Hospice Starlight Walk took place on the 18th September and was a truly memorable event. Over a thousand people took part in the walk around Walsall Arboretum and lit up the lake with hundreds of glow sticks and a candle of memory.

Steps to Work and Starting Point Recruitment staff came together for a good cause to show their support with the local community. The crowd included families and local businesses, all walking to showing their support to the Hospice. The coronets marching band were also in attendance, adding to the night’s magical atmosphere.

The money raised will go towards the running of the new Palliative Care Centre that will be used to care for people within Walsall who have life limiting illnesses.

Having served the Walsall community for over 10 years, Steps to Work are pleased to choose Walsall Hospice to support people within our area, who have life limiting illnesses. As part of the Walsall community, over 30 Steps to Work staff and 7 Starting Point Recruitment staff joined forces to show our support and commitment to Walsall, by joining in the Starlight Walk for the new Walsall Hospice, their families and carers. Both teams completed the 5 circuits of the Arboretum and lit candles and lanterns to show their support in memory of those who have life limiting illnesses. The Steps to Work Mobile Information Unit was on site at the start line to help and advise anyone who is looking for work, training or advice with qualifications. Both companies are proud to show their support for the Hospice and members of the community. Our participation brought local services and charities together to giving the residents of Walsall an outreach service right in the heart of their town.

Although the exact total is not yet known, thousands of pounds have been raised from the event and this will go towards kitting out the hospice, which is currently being built in Goscote Lane, Walsall, and is due to open next year.
