Offices are now sparkling in Wolverhampton
Amanda said, “Im getting compliments from the staff in the office, telling me im doing a good job which is really encouraging for me. Steps to Work have really helped me and boosted my confidence no end”
Amanda had been unemployed for the last 9 years before being referred to Steps to Work by Jobcentre Plus. Being a full time mother of 3, Amanda wanted to find work to fit round the needs of her children.
Having been at Steps to Work in Wolverhampton for 15 weeks, Amanda had had several coaching and confidence sessions with her Personal Coach and had taken on extra sessions with her Tutor to help Amanda with employability support, interview skills, letter writing and confidence building.
Previously, Amanda had taken on temporary work to fit round the needs of her family, her son in particular who has severe asthma. Amanda had lost all confidence and direction in the 9 years she had been out of work.
Amanda explained; “I really enjoyed the social side of coming into Steps to Work and talking through what work I wanted to do. My Personal Coach and Tutor where both very helpful and understanding. Its really difficult to find work on your own, especially when you have children and a family to look after as well’
A position became available as a cleaner within St Johns House, cleaning 2 floors for a Solicitors and Training Provider. Amanda’s Personal Coach knew that this would be perfect for her as the hours would suit Amanda down to the ground.” I prepared myself for the interview with help from my Tutor. The interview went really well and I was offered the job there and then. I am so pleased and enjoy getting up and coming in early to work.” said Amanda.
