Danielle is caring for her future

“I couldn't do anything on my own before as my confidence was so low, I have really enjoyed this type of learning and never missed a day!”

Danielle has always found learning at school difficult. Having a short attention span, she would easily get side tracked and bored with class work due to not understanding the work she was being taught.

Danielle was in care from the age of 2. Coming from a large family, Danielle has 6 sisters and 3 brothers. Danielle was separated from her siblings which she found difficult.

Danielle was referred to the Future Routesprogramme at Steps to Work by Learning Transitional Care. “I was nervous about coming to Steps to Work and not fitting in with everyone else but now im so glad I did.” said Danielle.

During the last 10 weeks of being on the Future Routes programme, Danielle has achieved many certificates in Equal Opportunities, Domestic Violence, Drug Awareness and Health and Safety. All of the certificates will go towards Danielle's ASDAN level 1 qualification and she is also working towards ASDAN Employability.

“I have enjoyed the Health and Safety course the most. I hope to go into animal care and I will be moving onto another course at Nova training where I hope to fulfil my ambition and care for animals” added Danielle.
