We are proud to be recognised by a number of leading quality organisations:
ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management Systems (QMS)
ISO 9001:2008 is the International Standard for Quality Management Systems and is a quality management standard that can be applied to our organisation. This standard helps Steps to Work achieve, maintain and improve the quality of our products, services and management practices.
The standards support the infrastructure of our business and aims to reduce and eventually eliminate non-conformance to specifications, standards, and customer expectations in the most cost effective and efficient manner.
ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management System (EMS)
The ISO 14001:2004 focuses on our environmental policies, specifically what steps we are taking to reduce the harmful environmental effects caused by our operations and to continually improve how our performance impacts on the environment.
Steps to Work aim to provide a common reference for when performing a variety of activities across all our sites by establishing a set of guidelines and show compliance by meeting a generic set of requirements laid out by the standard’s framework.
Our company policy is to let partners, employees and new business aware we are concerned about the environment and are putting a set of structured plans in place.
ISO BS25999-2:2007 Business Continuity Management (BCM)
ISO BS25999-2:2007 is based upon the well-established Plan-Do-Check-Act management model. The BCM defines our recovery objectives in the event of a disruption to our business and establishes the critical assets and business processes with an allowable period of disruption in the event of an incident.
We have an Impact Analysis document which defines two key areas of each critical business process:
- Recovery Time Objective – within what time period should the asset or business process be recovered?
- Recovery Point Objective – what is the level of service that needs to be recovered?
A Business Continuity Strategy which defines:
- How we would respond to an incident, the resources that would be available, and the timescale and service objectives for recovering from an incident. And a
- Business Continuity Plans which outlines the development of key areas of the business.

Investors in People (IIP) Gold
The investors in People Standard
There are 39 evidence requirements in The Standard which all organisations need to achieve to become recognised and be able to display the Investors in People plaque and logo. Two of these evidence requirements only need to be met by organisations with representative groups (for example unions and employee representatives, so those without these groups need to meet 37 requirements). To achieve Gold standard, companies are required to achieve an extra 126 additional evidence requirements or more to qualify as Investors in People Gold. Steps to Work achieved this status in 2010 and have been members of IIP since 2003.
